Consumable. Optional resource scheduled in the Level J Literature & Language Arts Instructor's Guide. The Analogies series provides instructions, strategies, and practice in solving analogical puzzles.
Analogies are at the root of good communication, the heart of beautiful prose. They are what similes and metaphors are made of. Think of an appropriate analogy and you have half-won the argument, almost fully explained the scientific principle, and all but assured yourself of winning your audience's attention. An inability to think analogically, or an inability to tell the difference between good and bad analogies, will not only hamper your ability to communicate effectively, but will condemn you to muddled thinking. For junior high and up.
The decision to homeschool our daughter, Alexa, was an easy one. Choosing a curriculum that worked well with her goals and schedule was a little more difficult.
