This comprehensive homeschool elementary science curriculum combines BookShark’s signature literature-based approach with national science standards, offering an exciting way for students to explore key science and engineering concepts. Through captivating literature and hands-on experiments, this highly academic program integrates crosscutting concepts that unify the study of science and engineering for a well-rounded learning experience.

The literature component includes two engaging and informative resource books:

  • Did You Know? Science Book – Explores the needs of living things, the human body, and meteorology.
  • Usborne Encyclopedia of Seas and Oceans – Focuses on ocean ecosystems and the creatures that inhabit them.

Students will also read a selection of captivating picture books that cover topics like fossils, magnets, genetic traits, and weather patterns. The curriculum of science questions for kids is enriched with stories such as:

  • The Magic School Bus series, including an adventure through power lines.
  • A true story about wolves restoring an entire ecosystem.
  • An introduction to robotics.
  • A biography of electrical innovator Nikola Tesla.

Hands-On Science Experiments

The program includes a wide range of fun and educational experiments, such as:

  • Building a roof that can withstand a hurricane.
  • Creating an electrical current to power a battery.
  • Constructing a robot powered by a motor.
  • And much more!

Optional Virtual Platform for Homeschool Students

The virtual platform is an optional online tool that provides students with access to reading schedules, assessments, and instant auto-grading results. It also allows parents to track and review student progress, customize assessments, and communicate directly with students via computer or mobile device. Each virtual seat includes 1 student and 1 parent/teacher account.

Virtual Access Details

If purchased in April, May, or June, virtual access can begin as early as July 1st, and you can start the course at your convenience, up to 6 months from the purchase date. Please note that courses must be started within 6 months of purchase, and you will have 12 months from your start date to complete the program.

With this homeschool science curriculum, your student will not only gain foundational knowledge in science and engineering but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them for years to come.

Can I use this package with both of my children?

Yes, you can! If your children are within three years of age, they can share the same BookShark Science package. Please note that you will need an extra set of Science D Student Activity Sheets for each additional student (one set is included with the Instructor's Guide), and an additional set of the Experiments Paper Packet (one is included with the package)

Can my students share the Science Supplies Kit?

Yes! If your students are willing to work together as lab partners, they can share the resources in the Science Supplies Kit D. You may want a second kit if you prefer that each student perform every experiment, or if you have more than two scientists sharing the Science package.
