Read-Alouds and Language Arts
Reading together is an essential part of early learning, and with BookShark's Read-Alouds, you’ll create lasting memories while building the foundation for reading skills. Cuddle up and enjoy classic stories like Winnie the Pooh and Babe the Gallant Pig. As part of this pre k homeschool curriculum, Dr. Seuss's ABC introduces letter sounds, and First Thousand Words helps your child expand their vocabulary, making this one of the best homeschool pre k curriculum options.
Science
Your child will learn about seasons, weather, plants, animals, the ocean, and more, exploring the natural world with excitement and curiosity in this preschool homeschool curriculum.
Math
Beginning in Week 11, your child will use hands-on manipulatives to build a strong math foundation. They will focus on patterns, shapes, and numbers—developing skills in recognition, counting, addition, and subtraction. This comprehensive pre k homeschool math curriculum approach helps your child gain essential early math skills.
Readiness Skills
The Developing the Early Learner series is designed to strengthen your child's abilities in four key areas:
- Motor: Left-right tracking, mazes, hand-eye coordination, and eye movement exercises.
- Visual: Activities that enhance memory, visual similarities, figure-ground distinction, and spatial awareness.
- Auditory: Exercises in auditory memory, rhyming, and sound recognition.
- Comprehension: Engaging tasks to improve understanding of categories, sequences, and language.
Optional Art
Introduce your child to the world of art with the Child's Book of Art, an optional component in this preschool homeschool curriculum. This beautifully illustrated book is scheduled in the guide and offers families an excellent opportunity to explore art during the preschool year.

When should I start my child in Pre-K?
Our Pre-K package is designed for students age 4 or 5 and is a great introduction to the BookShark method. We expect the Pre-K work to take less than an hour a day for you and your child. Before you buy, please consider whether or not they are ready to:
- Listen and pay attention when you read together
- Answer questions about what they hear and see
- Sit still for short periods of time
- Play simple games
- Work with you to complete activities
We strongly encourage you to wait if you have concerns about your child's readiness for structured learning. Let them play and explore for a year or two, it is one of the best ways for Pre-K children to learn!
My child is ready to read, can I use the Pre-K package?
Yes! If your child is ready to read, customize your Pre-K program with Level K Readers and Language Arts. To change the Language Arts level in your package, select the correct level from the “Select a Language Arts Level” drop-down menu on the “Customize” tab.

The decision to homeschool our daughter, Alexa, was an easy one. Choosing a curriculum that worked well with her goals and schedule was a little more difficult.
